Fitness Classes

Through wellness and fitness-oriented programs, our physical therapists can prevent or minimize injuries or disability.  We will teach you how to take care of yourself by showing you how to do exercises and use your body properly to gain strength, mobility, and prevent recurring injury.  For these reasons, we are introducing the NesinFit™ classes.

In order to insure your safety, please obtain written clearance from your physician for NesinFit™ classes.  Referral forms can be faxed or mailed to you or your physician at your request.  Please contact us if you have questions regarding a referral.

Nesin Therapy Services offers CoreFit™, an interactive fitness class that provides both education and exercise to develop core strength for good body mechanics. Core strength is vital for the way you move, work and play. These 30 minute classes are taught by Nesin's Physical Therapists who are experts in core anatomy.

Your body's core muscles are the anchor for all other body movement. From the most basic physical tasks to high level athletics, training the muscles of the core corrects postural imbalances that can lead to injuries. Core training is an ideal solution to bad posture, weak abdominals and low back pain.

Our therapists will assess and address faulty movement patterns, muscular asymmetries and imbalances in order to help you improve your movement patterns to meet the physical demands of your daily life. For those involved in athletic pursuits, CoreFit™ can help you to remain injury free and achieve peak performance. Whether training for everyday life or athletics, smarter training leads to better performance.

Our therapists will also teach you to implement better body mechanics into all of your daily living activities. Daily tasks can cause you pain and discomfort. CoreFit™ therapists will show you proper body mechanics for better functional fitness.

CoreFit™ features exercise instruction as well as mechanics training. Please wear athletic shoes and non-restrictive clothes that are appropriate for exercise. Participants are encouraged to bring bottled water for proper hydration during this class.

BabyFit

BabyFit™

Enjoy this special time while staying healthy and comfortable

nesin-babyfit-1Nesin Therapy Services offers BabyFit™, an interactive, half-day seminar intended for women who are pregnant as well as their spouses or significant others.  Classes are taught by Nesin’s Physical Therapists whose expertise in women’s health makes them acutely attuned to the changes that occur during pregnancy including the increased stress on the musculoskeletal system.  In addition, you will have the opportunity to learn about the changing demands on the body that arise after your baby is born.

nesin-babyfit-2Towards the end of their pregnancy, mothers-to-be often have difficulties with discomfort when sitting, sleeping and walking.  We will address techniques to minimize the stress on your back and hips during this time.

Along with the joy of your baby’s arrival comes a whole new set of challenges for your body.  We help prepare you by teaching lifting and carrying techniques, positioning for daily activities with your infant and proper nursery set-up.

Exercise pre and post-partum can help you avoid complications during and after your pregnancy.  We will provide guidelines and instruction for safe aerobic , flexibility and strengthening exercises.

BabyFit™ features exercise instruction as well as body mechanics training.  Therefore, wear loose comfortable clothing and athletic shoes are preferred.  Due to content, exercise mats are necessary for this class.  If you do not have a mat, they will be available for purchase prior to the beginning of the class.

 

SeniorFit

SeniorFit™ 

A safe and comprehensive exercise program for seniors. Stay active while having fun! 

SeniorFit™ is a weekly exercise program designed and taught by Physical Therapists.  Nesin Therapists are experts in understanding the aging process and its impact on a Senior’s body.  Each class will be focused on five general components:

  • Low-impact aerobic activity
  • Posture
  • Strengthening
  • Stretching
  • Functional Mobility

 

nesin-seniorfit-1In this 45 minute, weekly class, you will learn the skills necessary to reduce falls, improve balance, increase endurance, and maintain or improve your overall functional status.  These skills enable you to remain active and independent.  Classes are taught by Nesin’s Physical Therapists whose expertise in the aging process makes them keenly aware of the changes that occur throughout the aging process and the special needs of seniors.

Endurance tends to wane as we age and become less active.  Regular exercise helps to increase muscular strength, cardiovascular health, range of motion, and flexibility. We provide guidelines and instruction for safe aerobic exercises that are specifically designed to increase your endurance in order for you to maintain your energy level for your daily activities.

There are a number of postural changes that occur during the aging process that can limit your functional mobility.  We will address both posture and function in this course to so that you can continue to enjoy your activities more comfortably.   

SeniorFit™ features exercise instruction as well as body mechanics training.  You will need to wear loose, comfortable clothing and athletic shoes.  Due to the level of this class, all participants need to be able to transfer and walk independently.

Nesin Therapy Services offers OfficeFit™, an interactive class that presents concepts and principles for efficient posture and work station set-up. Inefficient posture and poor workstation set-up can increase mechanical stress and strain throughout the entire body, especially the spine. Often this leads to, or perpetuates, muscle or joint pain, fatigue, and repetitive motion injuries.

Efficient posture and good workstation set-up can improve your overall comfort, function and productivity. In OfficeFit™, you will learn the “stacking concept”, building a solid foundation and learning to position your body over your base of support. From this concept, you will learn positioning for typing on your computer, talking on the phone and writing at your desk. However, we know there is more to your job. We will teach you how to maintain your efficient posture in motion. Whether it’s filing, carrying stacks of paper, repeated bending, reaching for your phone, or leaning forward to talk to a client, you will learn to move safely.

Best of all, concepts and principles learned in OfficeFit™ can be easily applied to many facets of you daily life. Our therapists will teach you methods to identify when you are using optimal posture and techniques to correct or improve your position. In addition, you will learn basic exercises to help reduce the strain on your muscles or joints. These techniques and exercises can be applied to many of the activities we do every day, helping you stay injury free at home and on the job.
