Patients at Huntsville Hospital Women and Children's Center had a special visitor the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
He may not be the biggest turkey in the world (he probably is the biggest in Alabama) but the HELPline Turkey is indisputably the slowest living turkey in the world. He makes an appearance every year at the HELPline Turkey Trot. He's finished dead last for the last 13 years in a row and he never even finishes the 5k run. His best race is the Tiny Tot Turkey Trot for children under five. He always loses it too but at least he crosses the finish line.
The 14th Annual Turkey Trot was Thanksgiving morning on the campus of the University of Alabama in Huntsville. The race benefits HELPline, North Alabama's crisis line and information referral service. Tiny Tot Turkey Trot sponsor Nesin Therapy Services worked with the Child Life Center to schedule an appearance of the HELPline turkey at Huntsville Hospital Nov. 20.
"We thought the children would probably enjoy a visit from the HELPline Turkey," said Traci Musch, Marketing Director for Nesin Therapy Services. "He's big and really slow and goofy but he's alway good for a smile and he really needs the practice!"
Janine Nesin, Co-Owner & Traci Musch, Marketing Director of Nesin Therapy Services, P.C., along with Bill Farris, Crisis Center visited the children and wish them a Happy Thanksgiving.
