20 Years of Excellence in Physical Therapy Janet Nesin Founds Nesin Therapy Services in 1987
Janet Nesin graduated from Stanford University with a Certificate of Physical Therapy in 1964. She is a certified Neuro-Development Treatment (NDT) therapist. Her hands-on approach to treatment includes utilizing neuro-development techniques, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation techniques, and soft tissue and joint mobilization techniques. In 1987, with the help and support of her husband, Guy, Janet founded Nesin Therapy Services. Her youngest of four children was 14 at the time. The business began out of her home in Madison. The initial practice focused on supplying physical therapy for home health agencies and nursing homes. Janet had many goals in starting her company, such as controlling the quality of physical therapy services and flexible scheduling for her employees. Janet started with one employee, Sandy Kimbrel, LPTA, who continues to work for Nesin in the Huntsville clinic. Her first office was on L & N Drive, a base for a large team of home health therapists providing both physical and occupational therapy. The company then moved to a larger office on Old Madison Pike and in 1999 began to shift to providing more outpatient services in addition to home health. By 2001, the outpatient division had expanded and the clinic was moved to the current Hughes Road location. Both the size of the team and the clinic continued to grow due to the demand for quality outpatient physical therapy services. In 2002, the business shifted to exclusively out-patient physical therapy and in 2003 the decision was made to expand into Huntsville and the clinic on Whitesport Drive was opened. What began with Janet Nesin working out of her home with one employee has grown to two clinic locations with 27 employees. Both daughters are physical therapists; Michelle Nesin is co-owner and Clinical Administrator and Janine Nesin is co-owner and Business Administrator.
